How antennas work

Hello everyone!
I have been learning on how antenna work.I have made an explanation all ready for you. Here it is!

***

Chapter 1:Lights,Camera,ACTION!

It all starts with a studio making a movie. You want to watch it,don't you?So you have a antenna at the top of your house. That antenna collects the signals. But let's go back to the very beginning. When the movie is made,it is sent out as radio waves. And those radio waves are sent to an antenna(AGAIN!),that sends the radio waves out to satellites out in the atmosphere.

Chapter 2:Where next from the atmosphere?

There is a huge variety of antennas. Here is a list of some of some:

  1. Yagi-Uda antenna
  2. Helical antenna
  3. Spiral antenna
  4. Dipole antenna
  5. Short dipole antenna
  6. Horn antenna
AND A WHOLE LOT MORE!
Now,antennas, can be of two types:Omni-directional and Uni-directional(uni meaning one, unicycle, uniform). An Omni-directional one will pick up a signal from any angle, but a uni-directional one will pick up a signal from only one angle.Your TV is connected using wires,to a plug-in point.

Chapter 3:Your movie for you!

If you look up top of your roof, you will see cables coming from it.That is where your radio waves gets sent to!Well, your antenna, that gives the radio waves to the cables.the the radio waves gets sent to the plug-in point, and then they are sent to the wires, that is connected to your TV,and so you can see your movie!

My learning conference reflection!

Hello everyone!

Last night,I had a learning conference with my mum to share all of my learning I have done. My conference was at 3:15.I am going to share what happened, what I felt, and a lot more! Here it is:

***

Last night,I had my learning conference. I had invited my mum to listen. I felt really nervous when I headed to the door because I didn't know what order to share my learning! I also felt quite exited, because I had so much learning and information I wanted to share!

It was very quiet, because there were only two families. It was also very hard, because the teachers were taking photos and videos all the time! I was most proud of the way my conference flowed. I was also very glad that my parents were really impressed with my learning! I think that I did a pretty good job, because my parents gave me really good feedback.

My family was proud of all of my progress because they could see all of my improvement in my work. I enjoyed giving tours to my mum, because she could look at all of the learning all the habitat has done, by themselves or as a class. I liked seeing all of the other students share their learning, because I could mainly focus on my one, and when there are others that I can also grab ideas from.

I wish I had had more confidence, because I was very scared at lots of points. Something I forgot to share was my sea pollution artwork, that has dolphins jumping out of the sea. The best thing about my learning conference was seeing my learning conference going really well~having a good time, having positive feedback, and seeing so many smiling faces! I really enjoyed my learning conference. I had a real good time!

My reflection 5th May

My reflection 5th May

Hello everybody!
This is my stars and stairs for my learning at Bayview school. Here it is:

My stars

I have enjoyed having the privilege of working outside and choosing how to work and who to work with, because it gives us opportunities to drive my own leaning with my own learning car.I give us choice and I really like it.

I have achieved going to higher levels in reading.I used to read only chapter books, and now I am reading another entire variety and different types. That has made me better at reading.

My stairs

I have to work on being more independent because I always work with other people, and I sometimes need to get more work done.

What I found challenging was organizing our awesome trip to Manuka reserve. It is fun,but there is a lot to be done, and it is very challenging!

My favourite space in the habitat is Space 8 because the equipment there is very resourceful.

Something my family might not know about me at school is that we have all the privileges I have and the class.

Something special about our habitat is that we are the only class that gets to choose what we learn and who we learn with.

Hope you liked my reflection!
