Habitat 17 picking up rubbish!
Hello everyone!
Last Wednesday,Habitat 17 got an opportunity,a chance to link mathematics with sustainability.Statistics to be precise.Out teachers proclaimed that we were going to pick up rubbish around the school to make sure our environment stays clean and healthy. They said we needed to get into group of minimum 3,maximum 5.I chose four other people, making 5 in my group. Then we set off,and then we all wandered around the school picking up rubbish. My group found lots of disgusting things.EVEN A MANDARIN PIECE!We also found wood(rotting and smelly!),feathers, two lemonade bottles, pencils, straws and wrappers from fonterra milk for schools, and even a burger ring packet, and when we tipped out the rubbish, there were still burger rings in there, and they all tipped out!Yuck! We found that there was so much plastic...almost fifty percent!then, thirty percent wood, and the the other twenty percent wood.My group did a bar graph. Here are some photos and videos:
Hope you liked it!
